1. About these terms and who we are
Dreamlimen is made by Gratitude Lab LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). “The app” means the Dreamlimen mobile app for iOS and Android. “The Services” means the app, our website, and our Dreamlimen service: the online service we run for the app’s AI, speech, illustration, account, and cloud backup features. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
By installing the app, using the Services, creating an account, or making a purchase, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. You must be at least 13 years old to use Dreamlimen’s journal, reflection prompts, and other features that do not involve hypnosis. Children under 13 may not use the Services. If you are 13 to 17, you may use Dreamlimen only if your parent or legal guardian has read these terms, agrees to them on your behalf, and permits you to use the Services. The app asks you to confirm that you have this permission, and you cannot continue without it. If you are a parent or legal guardian giving that permission, these terms apply to you and to your child’s use. The hypnosis-guided experience described in Section 3 (Use the exercises safely and at your own pace) is only for people aged 18 and older.
In short:
- For ages 13 and up; the hypnosis-guided experience on Plus and Pro is for ages 18 and up. Personal reflection, not therapy, medical care, or crisis support.
- Your writing belongs to you. We never publish it or train our own models on it.
- AI replies, reflections, and illustrations are automated suggestions, not facts, memories, or advice.
- Your journal lives on your device. Accounts and cloud backup are optional and off until you turn them on.
- Free, Plus, and Pro. Plan prices and terms are shown before you buy, and extra time is never charged automatically.
- Questions or requests: office@dreamlimen.com.
2. What Dreamlimen is and is not
Dreamlimen helps you record dreams and reflect on them with reflection prompts and a journal on your device. Dreamlimen Free includes the journal, the prompts, and on-device saving and export. Dreamlimen Plus and Dreamlimen Pro add dream illustrations within a monthly allowance, written AI reflections from the AI guide, and, for people aged 18 and older, the hypnosis-guided experience: the gentle induction, “You are the dream” dreamwork, and Talk with AI (the app’s AI voice conversation, started from “Talk with your guide”). An account is optional for the journal and prompts; Plus and Pro features need you to sign in so we can confirm your plan or trial and, for the hypnosis-guided experience, your age confirmation. Cloud backup is optional on every plan. Nothing that sends your content anywhere runs until you choose it: the app asks before your first saved dream whether to create illustrations, Talk with AI runs only when you start it, and cloud backup starts when you sign in unless you turn it off. Section 5 (AI and voice features and their limits) explains illustrations and how to change that choice.
The AI guide can reply to what you share and suggest possible meanings shaped by your own associations. The app can also create an illustration of a dream. These automated suggestions are not a diagnosis, a prediction, or a decision about what your dream means. You decide what resonates. AI replies, reflections, transcripts, and illustrations can be wrong, incomplete, made up, or unsuitable. The AI guide is a computer program, not a person, clinician, or friend. Do not rely on AI output for medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other important decisions.
The Services are a personal reflection experience, not medical care, psychotherapy, hypnosis treatment, diagnosis, or professional advice. Using them does not create a clinician-patient relationship. Dreams, prompts, imagined dialogue, transcripts, AI replies, and illustrations are not evidence that something happened, that a memory is accurate, or that someone else thinks or feels a certain way.
Dreamlimen is not an emergency or crisis service. We do not monitor your journal or your AI conversations, and no one at Dreamlimen watches them while you use the app. The providers that process a request handle it under their own policies, as described in the Privacy Policy. The AI guide may suggest that you pause or seek support, but it cannot assess your safety, contact anyone, or arrange help for you. If you are in immediate danger or are thinking about harming yourself, stop and contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
3. Use the exercises safely and at your own pace
Use reflection exercises only when you are somewhere safe and can give them your attention, never while driving or operating machinery. You may keep your eyes open, type instead of speak, skip any question, pause, or stop at any time. In Talk with AI, the on-screen Pause and End buttons stop recording and playback right away; a spoken “stop” is recognized only after that turn is sent and transcribed.
The optional gentle induction and “You are the dream” preparation are self-paced, hypnosis-informed relaxation and imagination exercises. They are part of the hypnosis-guided experience on Plus and Pro and are only for people aged 18 and older. The app asks you to confirm your age range and, before each session, including a trial, to accept an 18+ notice; a subscription, a purchase, or a parent’s permission does not open them to anyone under 18. You control each step, and Pause, End, and a return-to-the-room step are always available. Use them only when seated somewhere safe and quiet. They are not hypnotherapy, treatment, lucid-dreaming training, regression, memory recovery, or deep hypnosis. Do not use them if you have a seizure disorder, psychosis, a dissociative condition, or another condition for which a clinician has advised you against relaxation or hypnosis exercises, unless a clinician has told you it is safe. Do not use them while affected by alcohol or drugs. You decide whether these exercises are right for you, and you can stop at any time.
Dreams and imagination can bring up difficult feelings. If an exercise feels distressing or disorienting, stop and return your attention to your surroundings. Consider support from someone you trust or a qualified professional. We do not promise any particular feeling, insight, or outcome.
4. Your optional account
You can use Dreamlimen’s journal and prompts without an account, and some builds do not offer one. An account lets you turn on cloud backup, covered in Section 7 (Your journal, backup, export, and deletion). Plus and Pro features, including a trial, require you to sign in and connect this installation to our Dreamlimen service so we can confirm your plan or trial and, for the hypnosis-guided experience, your age confirmation. You can sign in with an email address and password, with Google, or with Apple. Google and Apple sign-in share basic account details with us, as described in the Privacy Policy, and are subject to each provider’s terms.
An email account must use an address you control and be verified before you can sign in with it. Keep your password and device private. One account is for one person; do not share it. You are responsible for activity under your account; tell us at office@dreamlimen.com if someone else has used it. Resetting your password signs you out on every device. You can add another sign-in method only while signed in. You agree to receive account emails, such as verification and password-reset messages, electronically.
To delete your account, use “Delete account” in Settings; you may be asked for your password or to sign in again first. You can also ask us by email, as described in Section 16 (Contact). Deleting your account deletes the account and its cloud backup. When this installation is connected to our Dreamlimen service, it also removes the illustration copies, trial record, account link, and age confirmation that service holds for your account; if that removal fails, the app tells you and your account is not deleted until you try again. Deleting your account does not delete the journal on your devices. Suspension and closure are covered in Section 11 (Availability, changes, suspension, and ending use).
5. AI and voice features and their limits
Live dictation in writing fields uses your device’s own English speech recognition. Audio is not uploaded or saved. It needs microphone permission and, on iOS, speech recognition permission. Recording stops after 20 seconds without recognized speech or after 10 minutes, or at a shorter limit if the app shows one. If on-device recognition is unavailable, you can type; there is no automatic cloud fallback. Speech recognition can omit, mishear, or add words, so review every transcript.
Talk with AI is optional and has its own disclosure screen. The app records one turn at a time and submits it after you speak and pause briefly, or when you tap “Send this turn.” Each turn you send goes to our Dreamlimen service and its providers. The recording is transcribed. Your dream text and the recent transcript then go to an AI model, which writes a reply. The reply goes to a speech provider to be read aloud. Spoken replies can repeat details of your dream. Unsent recordings are discarded, but ending a conversation cannot recall a request a provider has already received. The transcript is added to your journal only when you choose to save it.
Prepared prompts and induction scripts send only fixed text to our speech provider, and a voice preview sends only your chosen voice name; your dream is never sent. When that voice is not available, your device’s own text-to-speech voice reads them.
Dream illustrations are a Plus and Pro feature and stay off until you choose to turn them on. Before your first saved dream, the app asks whether to create them and explains what is sent; nothing is sent until you choose, and you can change the choice in Settings at any time. They are limited to the monthly allowance shown in the app. When they are on, saving a new dream sends its title, dream, scene, noticed, and meaning text through our Dreamlimen service to an image provider, which returns one illustration. Recordings, the conversation transcript, and device identifiers are not sent. An illustration is imaginative, not a record of your dream. Generation can fail or be declined by the provider. We keep a private copy on our server, without your dream text, so that retries return the same image and to count your monthly allowance.
You can report an inappropriate AI reply or illustration from inside the app. A report sends the description you type and, for a conversation, only the AI text you choose to include. We use reports to review content and improve safeguards, as the Privacy Policy describes.
6. Your content belongs to you
You keep the rights you have in the dreams, journal entries, recordings, conversations, and other content you provide. We do not claim ownership of your personal writing.
We do not claim ownership of AI replies, reflections, or illustrations generated for you, and you may use them for your own personal reflection. Other people may receive similar or identical output, and we do not promise that generated content is original, accurate, or free of third-party rights.
Only submit material you have the right to use. Do not record other people without their permission, and avoid unnecessary details that identify them. Do not submit someone else’s confidential records, passwords, or payment details.
You give us a limited, non-exclusive permission to store, copy, transmit, process, and display your content, and to send it to the providers named in the Privacy Policy. This permission applies only as needed to provide the features you use. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for recovery copies described in the Privacy Policy, copies the law requires us to keep, and illustration copies until you remove them as described in Section 4 (Your optional account), Section 7 (Your journal, backup, export, and deletion), or Section 16 (Contact). A provider keeps what it already received under its own policy, as described in the Privacy Policy. This permission never allows us to publish your journal, use it in advertising, or train our own models on it. It covers, for example:
- transcribing a turn you send, generating an AI reply, and sending that reply to a speech provider to be spoken;
- creating an illustration from your dream text and keeping it on our server for retries and your allowance;
- storing your encrypted cloud backup when you turn it on, and restoring it to your devices;
- displaying your content in the app and handling material you send to support.
7. Your journal, backup, export, and deletion
Saved entries live in the app on your device. We cannot read, recover, or delete writing that exists only on your device. Device or iCloud backups you configure may include app data, and deletion does not guarantee that every byte is securely erased.
Cloud backup turns on when you sign in to your account, unless you turn it off under Account & backup in Settings; you can turn it off or back on at any time. Backup covers your saved dreams, reflections, saved conversations, and illustrations; unsaved drafts and audio recordings are never backed up. It runs while the app is open. Your backup is encrypted on our server with a key we hold so that we can restore it to you; this is not end-to-end encryption.
With cloud backup on, you can restore your journal to another device where you sign in. If the two copies differ, the app asks you to review before one replaces the other. Restoring or replacing overwrites the other copy, so export first if you want to keep both. “Delete cloud journal” removes your cloud copy and pauses backup; your journal on the device stays. Signing out or pausing backup keeps the last cloud copy.
“Export my journal” shares your saved words as plain text through your device’s share sheet. Exports have no illustrations, recordings, or password protection, so choose their destination carefully. “Delete saved journal” removes saved dreams and illustrations from that device and asks our Dreamlimen service to delete its copies of the illustrations. If cloud backup is on for that device, the empty journal then replaces your cloud copy. Use “Delete cloud journal” instead if you only want to remove the cloud copy.
8. Permission to use the Services and rules of use
Subject to these terms and your app store’s rules, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the Services for your own lawful reflection. Dreamlimen’s branding, software, bundled artwork, music, guide voice recordings, induction and preparation scripts, and prepared prompts are ours or are used under license, and are protected by law. Illustrations generated from your dreams are covered in Section 6 (Your content belongs to you).
To keep the Services reliable and affordable, we apply fair-use limits on requests, recording and session lengths, cloud backup storage, and illustrations. The app shows the limits that matter, including the illustration allowance on Plus and Pro. A successful illustration counts toward that allowance even if you delete it. A retry of the same dream does not use another. We may change limits. If a change reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance. How the change applies to an existing subscription is shown on the purchase screen and, if you bought through an app store, follows that store’s terms. The law where you live may give you further rights.
The app reaches our Dreamlimen service with an access credential we issue to your installation. Keep it private. We may expire or revoke it. The rules below do not limit rights the law gives you, such as permitted interoperability or security research.
While using the Services, please follow these rules:
- Do not interfere with security, share or misuse an account or access credential, or try to access another person’s information.
- Do not try to extract, override, or work around the instructions that guide the AI, or circumvent allowances, request limits, or purchase requirements.
- Use the AI features only for your own dream reflection. Do not use them to generate content that is unlawful or harms other people, or to make automated or bulk requests.
- Do not introduce malicious code, disrupt the Services, or copy, sell, or redistribute the app or our protected content without permission.
- Do not use the Services to provide services to others, including clients or patients, or to violate the law or another person’s rights.
9. Free, Plus, Pro, and extra minutes
Dreamlimen Free includes the journal, reflection prompts, and on-device saving and export. It needs no purchase. Dreamlimen Plus and Dreamlimen Pro are monthly subscriptions that add dream illustrations within a monthly allowance, written AI reflections, and, for people aged 18 and older, the hypnosis-guided experience with a monthly allowance of live minutes; Pro includes more minutes than Plus. Extra minutes can be bought after a plan’s included minutes are used. When Plus, Pro, or extra minutes are available to buy, the price, what is included, renewal terms, how to cancel, and any other conditions are shown before you buy. These terms alone never authorize a charge. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must make or approve every purchase, including through the family purchase controls your app store offers.
Plus and Pro renew automatically each billing period until you cancel. If we offer a free trial, its length, what it includes, and what happens when it ends are shown before you start it; a trial does not start a paid plan or a charge unless you choose one. Included minutes are used before any minutes you purchase, and only the time you use is deducted. We never charge you automatically for extra time; every additional purchase is your explicit choice. The 18+ requirement for the hypnosis-guided experience applies to trials and purchases alike, and we show it before a purchase that includes that experience or its minutes.
We bill purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play under that store’s terms, unless the purchase screen says otherwise, and we never receive your card details. How included minutes reset, how plan changes work, and what happens to purchased minutes if you cancel are shown on the purchase screen. The illustration allowance resets on the first day of each month (UTC), as the Privacy Policy describes. Cancellation and refund rules are shown before you buy. Prices are in US dollars before tax unless the store shows otherwise. If we change a plan’s price, we will tell you before the new price applies to you, and where the law or your app store requires it, you will need to agree to the new price before you are charged it.
10. Third-party services and app stores
AI, speech, illustration, sign-in, email, and hosting features rely on the providers named in the Privacy Policy, and we may change providers and update the Privacy Policy when we do. A provider may be unavailable, may change its service, or may decline a request under its own rules. We are not responsible for a provider’s independent acts beyond what the law requires.
App stores, including the Apple App Store and Google Play, and other services we link to have their own terms and privacy policies. Opening a link does not give us access to your account with that service; sign-in sharing is described in Section 4 (Your optional account).
On iOS, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement covers the app software. On Android, Google Play’s terms apply to distribution and billing. Nothing here reduces the protections the app stores or consumer law give you.
11. Availability, changes, suspension, and ending use
Dreamlimen is under active development. Features may differ by build, platform, region, or plan. We may add, change, limit, or withdraw features, including when a provider we depend on changes. If we shut down a major feature or the Services, we will try to tell you in advance.
You can stop using the Services at any time. In Settings you can export or delete your saved journal, turn illustrations off, pause or delete your cloud backup, sign out, delete your account, or disconnect the Dreamlimen service from this installation (Disconnect voice under Voice connection). Stopping does not erase copies you exported or information a provider must lawfully keep.
We may suspend or close your account, or revoke an access credential, if you seriously breach these terms, create a security or legal risk, or if we discontinue the Services. Unless a breach or the law prevents it, we will give you notice and a reasonable chance to export your journal before cloud data is deleted. If you have an app store subscription, deleting the app or closing your account does not cancel it; cancel it in your store settings.
Some parts of these terms keep applying after you stop. They are Section 6 (Your content belongs to you), Section 8 (Permission to use the Services and rules of use), Section 9 (Free, Plus, Pro, and extra minutes), Section 12 (Our responsibilities and your rights), Section 13 (Limits on our liability), and Section 15 (Resolving concerns and general terms).
12. Our responsibilities and your rights
We will provide the Services with the care required by applicable law. Your mandatory consumer rights, statutory guarantees, and remedies remain intact.
Except as stated in these terms, and to the extent permitted by law, we provide the Services “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the extent permitted by law, we make no other promises. For example, we do not promise that the Services will be error-free or always available. We do not promise that AI replies, transcripts, or illustrations will be accurate or suitable, that a cloud backup will be complete, or that every unsaved entry will be preserved. Cloud backup is a convenience and no internet service is fully secure, so keep your own export of anything important. The law where you live may not allow some of these limits. If so, they do not apply to you.
13. Limits on our liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you agreed to these terms, or for business losses. The same applies to indirect or consequential losses, such as lost data, lost profits, or harm to reputation, and to punitive damages.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Services, taken together, is capped. The cap is the greater of USD 500 or the amount you paid for the Services, whether to us or through an app store, in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for:
- fraud or intentional misconduct;
- gross negligence, and death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
- our failure to provide a paid feature with reasonable care, where consumer law does not allow that limit;
- anything else the law does not let us exclude or limit.
14. Updates to these terms
We may update these terms as the Services develop. We will show the effective date of the current version at the top of this page. We will give reasonable notice of material changes before they take effect, unless an urgent legal or security change requires earlier action. We will give notice in the app, on our website, or by email if you have an account. Where the law requires it, we will ask you to agree again before changes apply. If you keep using the Services after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply to you. Changes do not apply retroactively to an existing dispute without your agreement.
15. Resolving concerns and general terms
If something goes wrong, please contact us first at office@dreamlimen.com so we can try to resolve it. Contacting us is not a condition of exercising a legal right and does not extend a legal deadline. These terms do not remove the protections or access to courts that mandatory law provides where you live. They do not require arbitration and do not waive class or group claims.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. A dispute that we cannot resolve together will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we each accept those courts’ jurisdiction. If you live outside the United States and mandatory law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts or under your own law, these terms do not take that right away.
These terms, the Privacy Policy, and the terms shown when you buy something are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services; your app store’s license also applies to the app. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a provision, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer this agreement to a successor if our business changes hands, subject to the Privacy Policy; you may not transfer it.
16. Contact
For questions about Dreamlimen or these terms, contact Gratitude Lab LLC at office@dreamlimen.com. Please put “Dreamlimen terms” in the subject line. You do not need to send a dream or recording to ask a question.
To delete your Dreamlimen account, use “Delete account” in Settings, or email office@dreamlimen.com with “Delete my Dreamlimen account” in the subject line. We will verify that you own the account before we delete it; if we cannot match your email address, we will tell you what we need. You can use the same email to ask us to remove illustration copies, a trial or account-link record, an age confirmation, or an access credential that our Dreamlimen service holds for your account or for an installation, whether or not that installation is connected to your account. We will delete what we can match; if we cannot match it, we will tell you what we need.
